Not seeing the results you want in the gym? This could be why!

So, you’ve been hitting the gym hard and you have some awesome weight loss goals. You’ve been training, attending group fitness classes, doing more than what you usually do but you’re STILL finding that the weight you want to lose just isn’t budging! You begin to question yourself. What am I doing wrong? Am I just destined to not lose the weight?

Do not despair, Team SGAC! We have the answer you’ve been looking for and we can tell you now, it’s definitely not to do with how hard you’ve been working in the gym. It’s more about how hard you’ve been working in the kitchen!


We can tell you, one of the main reasons you’re most likely not seeing results in your training regime is because of your nutrition and what you’re eating. Food can make up to 80% of the results you see in the gym and to changes you see in your weight. Your training can make up only 20% of this (crazy, huh?). Don’t get us wrong, your training is vital to building muscle, gaining strength and shedding fat, but you can’t do any of this without the right nutrition!

If for instance, your goal is weight loss, you need to be eating at a calorie deficit each day in order to lose weight. If you’re overeating, your body, it will take longer to burn off the extra energy and resultantly, lose weight.


Keeping tabs of your nutrition is vital for achieving your weight loss goals and being in control of what you achieve. The best way to stay on track with your nutrition is to:

  • Use a calorie counter app such as My Fitness Pal to track your macronutrients & calories to ensure you remain in a calorie deficit if your goal is weight loss.
  • Work with a nutritionist to figure out how much carbohydrates, fats, protein & calories you need to be consuming for your activity levels & lifestyle each day.
